Zdeněk Volf: When an inseminator writes poems

Born in Valašské Meziříčí in 1957, Zdeněk Volf studied veterinary medicine at the Secondary School of Agriculture in Kroměříž. He is a freelance inseminator and also pursues judo, macrobiotics and meditation. These days, he writes poems as well as prose. He has authored several books including Žasl jsem od pily (I Wondered at the Sawmill, 2018), Před modlitbou přiložím (I’ll Put it Near Before the Prayer, 2017), Až na poslední pohled (At Last Sight, 2013), Chlévská lyrika (Stable Lyrics, 2010), Srdcář (Heartbook, 2008), A mrvě prsteny (Rings for Manure, 2007), Stahy (Contractions, 2003), K svému (With Their Own, 1999) and Řetězy a ptáci (Chains and Birds, 1999). He has also put together an anthology titled Krátká báseň (A Short Poem, 2020).
