Dániel Varró: A lyricist
– Hungary

Dániel Varró is a poet and a translator born in 1977. He studied the Hungarian and English languages at ELTE in Budapest. His first collection of romantic poetry titled Szívdesszert  was published in 2006. Ten years later, he published the poetic book Mi lett hova?, a kind of a summary of the author’s existence and an ironic and playful reckoning with himself. He writes little poems and rhymes for children and translates literature on an ongoing basis. “I like to be direct in my poetic voice. I also suffer from a mania compelling me to use all kinds of poetic forms, trying to grow into poetic tradition and refer back to various poetic predecessors and poems,” he says.
