On her website, Karin Lednická writes: “I was born in Karviná in 1969. I grew up in Havířov and now I live in Ostrava. ... After leaving secondary school, I’ve worked a number of interesting industrial jobs in the Ostrava and Karviná region. ... At the start of the 1990s, I finally got the opportunity to try my dream job – I’ve started writing for regional periodicals, reporting news for one of the first private radio stations in the country and writing about culture for regional media.” She has also translated from English into Czech and managed the Domino publishing house. Today, she is an author. Her first novel Šikmý kostel (A Slanted Church, 2020) is the first of a planned trilogy. Veronika Černucká reviewed the book and concluded: “A strong story that would make for a great film.”
