Born in Valašské Meziříčí in 1976, Adéla Knapová graduated from the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University in Prague. She is a journalist and has worked for the Reflex magazine since 2009. She has won the Young Hemingway award. She has published four books: Nezvaní (The Uninvited, 2003), Nemožnost nuly (The Impossibility of Zero,2016), Slabikář (Spelling-book, 2017) and Předvoj (The Vanguard, 2019). According to the publisher’s annotation, the author’s “novella connects the 1960s with sea waves, upcoming future and the genetic non-soil of a massive greenhouse full of fastpeas and chipped employees.”
